Does God heal today? (1) – His nature is to heal

Is divine healing for today? Does God still heal today ? And if God heals today, how do we receive healing and how do we minister healing?

Discover divine healing testimonies, healing prayers and the first episode of the new series “Does God heal today?”. You will learn from the Scriptures why you can believe God can heal you and through you! Here is the first reason. It is God’s nature to heal! The revelation of this truth will transform you and make you an agent of healing.

You need to renew your mind about healing

Let’s look together in Romans 12. Romans 12 verse 2 says :

“Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing and perfect will of God. » (HCSB)

And the New Living Translation puts it this way:

” Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world but let God transform you into a new person, by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (NLT)

When you read the book of Romans, you’ll realise that it comes after a lengthy explanation of redemption of the work of Christ on the cross and the difference that it makes to our lives now, and the whole process, the whole logic of redemption, of justification, of faith and then we get to chapter 12 where he now says “okay, now this is what you are to do. »

“Let yourselves be transformed. Change the way you think”, what we call the renewal of the mind, “change the way you think”. This is imperative, and it applies to every area of life.

And you may say, what’s the connection with healing? The way we think about healing must change. We need to know what is the good, pleasing and the perfect will of God.

What does that mean?

We’re not born again, knowing what God wants about everything. We don’t have all the information and nobody has it all, but we grow, we learn, we change the way we think, and we allow ourselves to be transformed.

Now in the matter of healing, how do we change the way we think? We go and delve into the Word of God and say “Okay, Father, what do you think about healing?” What does God’s word say about healing? and it’s imperative that we remove our theological goggles that sometimes impede the perception of truth, impede the entrance of light.

Now, there are people who are absolutely convinced that if anybody is sick on the earth today, if any christian is sick, it is obviously because God wants them to be sick.

If God exists why is there so much evil?

You know, one young man who is not a believer was telling me once “Why is there so much evil in the world? And if there is evil in the world, that’s because God wants it.” And so I asked him about some of the sins that he had done lately. I said “Was it God who made you do them?”He said “No”. So I said “Well, so you are capable of doing evil without God, and other people are capable of doing evil without God, without God wanting to do those things.

So it’s imperative that we understand that the existence of sickness is not the proof of divine validation.

Nobody says that there is sin and it’s because God wants there to be sin. If we are trying to get people saved from hell, we must be trying to get them healed from sickness.

God heals because He demonstrates His goodness

Psalm 145:9 “The Lord is good to everyone. His compassion rests on all he has made.” (HSCB)

“He showers His compassion on all that he has made.” (NLT)

I don’t know about you, but I love the thought of a shower of compassion. And the reason I’m talking about this is because of the first point: the nature of God. The nature of God is demonstrated in the character of God. One of the salient dimensions of the character of God is the goodness of God. You know, if God were not good, we would have been in an absolute mess, but the goodness of God is one fundamental characteristic of God and Psalm 145 says “The Lord is good to all”.

“Is the removal of sickness an expression of goodness?

The question is: “Is the removal of sickness an expression of goodness? Or is it not? Does God’s goodness extend to removing sickness?

Acts 10:38 “And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” (NLT)

So Paul talks about the good that Jesus did. And the good that Jesus did is evidenced in the healing of people. The goodness of God is actively and visibly demonstrated in removing evil and sickness from people and restoring them to good health.

You see, the goodness of God is infinitely more wonderful than we will ever be able to comprehend. Now we can comprehend divine healing. So the goodness of God extends beyond even divine healing,  anything that we can fathom or comprehend. Whatever good you can imagine God is capable of it.
