As I finished my meeting today, my main thought was, ‘what will i have for dinner’? I had missed lunch and was quite hungry. I turned to my colleague and complained about having to decide two to three times a day what to eat and wished one never got hungry so i could go for days without thinking about food. Immediately i corrected myself and thought of all the people worldwide who would like to have my kind of problem, overabundance, and being spoilt for choice.
The world over as we prepare to celebrate Christmas and overindulge as we do yearly children somewhere will die of malnutrition, hunger and diseases caused by lack of potable water. Today Zimbabwe is in the throes of a cholera epidemic. Cholera is a killer, yet highly preventable. You and I can do something about it. Before you empty your account this christmas buying even more gifts for people who already have more than enough, think what you can do to feed a child somewhere else in the world. Jesus said ‘when i was hungry you gave me to eat, when i was thirsty you gave me to drink……’ Who will you give to eat or drink as you celebrate the coming of the Saviour?
