Prayers to know and embrace divine purpose

God, the Creator, designs every life with a specific purpose even before birth. He is the ever-present One who walks with us along the path of our destiny. He is the living Word who seeks hearts in which to reveal himself in our generation. These twenty prayers are inspired by these three truths revealed during our session on 6 March on Jeremiah 1. They are designed to be spoken aloud, with faith and perseverance. Take the time needed and return to them every day this week.

I. THANKSGIVING FOR GOD’S PLAN

For the Understanding that He knew me before I was born

Father, You are the author of my existence; I come before You this morning with the deep awareness that You knew me before I was conceived. Even before I was formed in my mother’s womb, You already had a plan for me. I do not exist by chance, nor through a series of random events. I am the fruit of a specific divine intention. For this astonishing reality, I thank You. May this awareness not remain an abstract theological truth, but become a certainty that guides every decision in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

For the Grace to Desire What You Desire

Father, I thank You because not only do You have a plan for my life, but You have also given me the Holy Spirit to help me desire what You desire. You are not a distant God who commands and then departs. You are present; You work within me; You redirect, You correct, You instil new desires. May the grace to desire Your will grow within me. May my fleshly desires diminish and may the desire to please You become the dominant obsession of my soul. Thank You for this inner work that You are constantly accomplishing. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

For Those who are a testimony to divine redirection

Father, we thank You for all these men and women whose lives bear witness to a transformed path, far beyond their own plans. Not because of failures, but because You have intervened to lead them towards Your will. These testimonies are a source of faith and hope for us. We celebrate them and proclaim that what You have done for them, You can do for each one of us. Your faithfulness is inexhaustible, and Your ability to redirect a life is limitless. Thank You, Father. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

II. REVELATION OF AN EXTRAORDINARY DESTINY

For the Revelation of His Extraordinary Destiny for you

Father, in Jesus’ name, reveal to me through Your Spirit the extraordinary destiny You have prepared for me. Open my mind, and show me Your purposes for my life, Your specific goal, Your ultimate destination. I want to know Your will. I cease to ask You to bless my own decisions, or to follow the paths my upbringing has laid out for me. I turn to You, Lord of Hosts. What I have not yet understood, reveal it to me. What I have not yet seen, grant me to see it. What I have not yet grasped, may I now take in through the power of Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

For the abilitity to dixcern between Illusory Success and True Success

Father, keep me from the temptation to confuse success by the world’s standards with success according to Your purposes. You have shown me today that many Christians display an outward appearance of success – in their profession, in their ministry – but that according to Your plan, they fall far short, for their lives do not correspond to what You had intended. Father, may my life be aligned with Your approval, and not with the approval of this generation. I choose to direct all my ambitions towards what You define as true success. May Your testimony regarding my life be my sole criterion of success. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

To Cultivate a Thirst to Know His Will

Father, grow within me a genuine thirst to discover what is on Your heart concerning me. Not a superficial curiosity, but a thirst that drives me to persevere in prayer, to sit in Your presence, to listen to Your Holy Spirit. May this thirst become more urgent than my natural desires for worldly success, career advancement, or the ambitions the world extols. May the pursuit of Your will become as essential to me as breathing: non-negotiable, constant, vital. I thank You, for You reveal Yourself to those who seek You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

To Live Under God’s Watchful eye, Not Under the Gaze of Men

Father, this morning, I choose to live under Your watchful eye, rather than under the influence of social media, its ‘likes’, its fleeting shares and its quest for virality. I know that online popularity does not guarantee Your approval, and that, all too often, it can even run counter to it in today’s world. Father, anchor within me a constant awareness of Your presence and Your gaze. May every decision in my life be made in Your presence and for You. Free me from the need for human admiration or external validation so that I may walk the path You have laid out for me. You are the only audience whose opinion truly matters. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

III. RENOUNCING OBJECTIONS AND REBELLION

To Renounce All Objections

Father, like Jeremiah who protested, saying, ‘I cannot speak; I am too young’, I acknowledge all the objections I have raised against Your will. Whatever their origin – a feeling of being too weak, too old, insufficiently qualified, too busy or already too committed – I renounce these objections now. They are not valid reasons. You have answered me as You answered Jeremiah: my protests do not count. And to every argument I have raised, You had an answer. I therefore withdraw my objections and say yes to You. A total and unreserved ‘yes’. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

To Break Down Mental Strongholds

Father, I acknowledge that there are patterns of thought within me that resist Your will. Mental strongholds, built up by years of conditioning – familial, cultural, generational – which make my cooperation with You partial, hesitant, never fully committed. In Jesus’ name, I pray that these strongholds be dismantled. I submit every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. I choose to renew my mind, to let Your thoughts permeate mine, Your priorities become mine, Your agenda become mine. May all inner resistance be rooted out from the depths of my being, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

To Undo the Negative Words Spoken Over One’s Own Life

Father, I acknowledge that I have used my voice to speak words of death concerning my own destiny. I have said: ‘I can’t’, ‘It’s not for me’, ‘I won’t be able to do it’. In doing so, I have affirmed my inability, my inferiority, and my incompatibility with what You are calling me to. These words have erected a barrier in my mind, preventing me from moving forward. This morning, I cancel every one of these words of death in the name of Jesus. I disavow them entirely. I declare my total disagreement with them. On the contrary, I proclaim that what You have said about my life is the truth, that I am capable of accomplishing what You have called me to do, and that Your grace is sufficient for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

To Declare My Total Commitment to His Will

Father, I have shown my disagreement through my words, my choices and my resistance. This morning, I am radically changing my attitude. I declare my total commitment. A full and complete commitment, without condition or reservation. I do not need to understand everything before committing. I do not need Your will to align with my preferences in order to cooperate with You. I choose to be in harmony with You from this moment on, in every aspect of my life. I choose to listen to the Holy Spirit, to follow Him and to learn from Him. I set aside my fleshly opinions and make room for Him. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

IV. THE WORD OF GOD IN MY MOUTH

To Receive the Words of God Upon My Tongue

Father, just as You reached out to Jeremiah and touched his mouth, saying, ‘I have put my words in your mouth’, I receive this

To Bring the Word of God to My Generation

Father, You told Jeremiah that he had a responsibility towards the nations: to uproot, to tear down, to build, to plant. Jesus, when He left this earth, entrusted us with the responsibility to make disciples of the nations. This morning, I receive this commission anew. The value of my life in Your plan is tied to my obedience to this call. Father, put Your words in my mouth so that I may speak them to my generation. I want to say what You say. I want to proclaim life, to share Your revelation and Your thoughts with those around me. My heart burns with the desire to see Your word proclaimed. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

V. OVERCOMING FEAR THROUGH GOD’S PRESENCE

To Receive the Revelation That God Is With Me

Father, You are with me. Not a vague hope, a “You might be with me if I behave well”, but a certainty: You are with me, now, today, in this season, in this difficulty, in the face of this uncertainty. Jesus promised: “I will be
