3rd Secret of Spiritual Health and Power

3.Serving God

Being in line with the desire of God is the big secret to spiritual health and power and we break this down into specific things that enable us to do the will of God.In this episode Pastor Bola Ogedengbe gives us the 3rd secret of spiritual health and power.

Read the summary below.

What is the will of God? – Holiness; Intimacy; Service

We are saved to a life of intimacy and a life of service.

You are no longer your own, so you must glorify God with your body which now belongs to God and honour Him with your service.

The importance of service to God is exemplified in the creation and redemption mandate.

Genesis 1:28  (HCSB)

28 God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every creature that crawls[a] on the earth.”.

In the beginning God made man and gave him work to do. He told him to be fruitful and multiply and subdue everything that lives.

Work is essential to the constitution of man.
When Jesus was on the earth, He was working all the time. He said His Father was working and so was He.

John 5.17 HCSB

But Jesus responded to them, “My Father is still working, and I am working also.”

When Jesus left the earth, He gave us a job to do – the redemption mandate.

Matthew 28:18-20

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of[f] all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember,[g] I am with you always,[h] to the end of the age.”

When we are saved, we are enrolled into God’s work force.

What we do in the Kingdom determines the quality of our life and relationship with God, as well as our eternal life!

What are you living for? – a diploma? money? a job?….

SERVING GOD IS WANTING WHAT GOD WANTS – for the kingdom, for your generation and for the church!

When you want what He wants, you will do what it takes; if not, you will give up or have a wrong attitude. Attitude is as important as action.

Pray that you will want what God wants and that:

  • You will be motivated
  • You will seek opportunity
  • You will volunteer, and will not need to be cajoled
  • You will not be able to stand that what God wants is not done.
  • You will always seek ways to do better

May you have a heart for God’s purposes and desires! By so doing your fellowship with God will be intensified. The Holy Spirit will help and encourage you because He is satisfied with your heart.

Problems are nothing compared with the fellowship you enjoy when you share His heart.

1 Corinthians 15:58 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

58 Therefore, my dear brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

1 Corinthians 15:58 Amplified Bible (AMP)

58 Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord [always doing your best and doing more than is needed], being continually aware that your labor [even to the point of exhaustion] in the Lord is not futile nor wasted [it is never without purpose].

ATTITUDE

The foundation of service is to share God’s desire and purpose.

The work of God is a privilege. We must see ourselves as people living and working for God.

1 Timothy 1:12 (HCSB)

12 I give thanks to Christ Jesus our Lord who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, appointing me to the ministry,

1 Timothy 1:12 Amplified Bible (AMP)

12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has granted me [the needed] strength and made me able for this, because He considered me faithful and trustworthy, putting me into service [for this ministry],

You should be always grateful in spite of suffering, attacks and persecutions; but we are so quick to bow out and stop serving. Paul accepted to suffer for Christ from conversion because he understood that it was a privilege.

Ask for that kind of heart. We serve without complaining when we want what God wants.
